Overview
Ethics committees reviewing multisite research projects were accredited by the Victorian Minister for Health in 2009 and reviewed in 2011. The accredited ethics committees are shown below. The accreditation process involved self-assessment and was evaluated by a specialist committee to ensure a high standard of ethics review could be delivered.
The accreditation was reviewed in 2019 and further extended for competency in early phase clinical trial review. A specialist panel appraised the committees against set criteria for early phase clinical trial expert scientific and ethical review.
In addition, these ethics committees were required to have certification from the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) when National Mutual Acceptance was implemented in 2013.
